Message

It is with full hearts that we invite you to share the day we say "yes" to a life made together, amid the chrysanthemums of Yushima Tenmangu's autumn festival, on a quiet November afternoon in Tokyo.

The years that brought us here have been kinder for the people in them, and you are among the ones who shaped us. We hope, with everything, that yours will be one of the faces we see as we walk through the torii on the sixteenth.

Venue

Entering Yushima Tenmangu

Marrying at a Tenjin shrine is to ask for a wise, smart beginning. Its halls and ema plaques are carved from kiso hinoki, the long-grained cypress that, for a couple, carries musubi: a bond patient and strong, deepening with the years.

  1. Purification
    Arriving guests rinse their hands at the chōzuya basin near the entrance, a small gesture of respect before stepping into the sanctuary.
  2. Entry
    A Shinto priest leads the procession into the inner shrine. Please bow once at the gate as you cross the threshold.
  3. The Sake Vows
    Wisdom and Haruka exchange three sips from each of three cups, the san-san-kudo, the heart of the rite that seals the union.
  4. Photography
    Please refrain from photos during the rite itself; the keeper will signal warmly when the moment to capture arrives.
